![]() It's gotta start somewhere. Usually, it’s with a move that goes generally in the right direction, though perhaps unrecognizable at the time. Paintings are like this. Here is a new commission I am working on. It will eventually be a sunset beach scene of a very specific location. Right now, it’s just the start of the sky. An hour of two of painting. It’s a start. No point in rushing it. I can’t make it happen instantly. All I can do is go slow and steady. Build up the layers, front to back. Add in the details, from general to specific. Perhaps not a bad metaphor for pursuing dreams we may have in life. Or better yet, maybe even for how God works on us. Works in us. Opens our eyes, and our hearts. One step at a time. A move that goes generally in the right direction, though perhaps unrecognizable at the time. I’m as impatient as the next person. Wish I had a crystal ball. But maybe the real joy is in enjoying the unfolding of the process, like a blooming flower. Cherish every step along the way. And keep our eyes open, with the wonder and delight of a child. Love to all. xo Mimi
